Story
Over the past six years, World Merit has encouraged thousands of young changemakers around the globe to take social action in their local communities to address the greatest need. Throughout this time, our changemakers have undertaken over 100,000 projects across every country in the world and in 2019 alone, we already made a profound difference to the lives of 400,000 people.
World Merit partnered with the United Nations In 2015, formally adopting the United Nations seventeen Sustainable Development Goals at our core. Today, World Merit is acknowledged by the UN as its primary partner for engaging youth in the delivery of the SDGs and our links with the UN have enabled and reinforced critically important partnerships around the world.
World Merit uses the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a framework for raising the awareness, appetite and capacity of young people to take local actions that tackle the most pressing global issues of the 21st Century.
We have now identified a need to support young people across the UK and abroad, working with schools, universities and youth groups to set up Local Merit Councils. Our Councils will then identify, plan and undertake their own social action projects to make a difference in their local communities.
We have lots of interest, particularly from schools, who have adopted the SDGs as a framework for their citizenship programs. They are looking for us to inspire their young people, guide them in the set up of their council and provide ongoing support and encouragement. However we currently have insufficient staff members / volunteers to meet the need for our services.
Young people are desperate to take action - recently Lottie, aged 10, helped us at our Liverpool litter pick on World Clean Up Day. She commented "I have had the most amazing day as it made me feel so positive and if everyone is positive this will lead to a happy world and if we have a happy world then we will all make good choices in our lives. "

Can you help us to raise the funds to inspire more young people like Lottie?
We are looking to raise £50,000 over the next 3 months so that we are able to support and inspire the young people to become the changemaking leaders in their local communities.
