Dementia affects many people, including family, friends and carers. We have chosen to support dementia in our local community by renovating the currently unsafe garden at The Memory Clinic in Wokingham, through Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This will provide a safe and secure environment for patients and carers to relax, interact and participate in outdoor activities.
Younger People With Dementia is a registered charity (1171720), established in 2012, based in Wokingham, that works closely with The Memory Clinic. They provide age-appropriate activities, education, support groups and social events, often utilising the garden for courses and meetings, which will help to maintain the garden. We will be supporting YPWD with a new Making Memories scheme, creating happy memories for those living with Young Onset Dementia and their families.
Though our fund raising at Bearwood Lakes Golf Club for 2023/24, we would like to fund the garden renovation this Autumn, with excess funds being used to launch the Making Memories scheme next Spring and your support will be greatly appreciated.
