On 30 May, volunteers from Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team will be carrying out a major litter pick to help clear a shocking fly tipping site in the South Wales valleys.

What should have been a beautiful part of the landscape has become a dumping ground for household waste, tyres, furniture and general rubbish. Sadly, much of it has ended up in difficult and dangerous terrain, meaning this isn’t a simple community litter pick with bin bags and gloves.

Our team will be carrying out a technical operation, using ropes and specialist rescue equipment to lower team members down steep ground to safely recover the waste. The same skills and equipment we use to save lives in the mountains will be used here to help protect the environment we all love.

As a charity, Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team receives no government funding for our operational work. Every rescue, training session, vehicle, piece of equipment and community project is funded through donations.
