Story

Citizens Advice Bucks Christmas Emergency Appeal

Citizens Advice Bucks, the oldest and largest advice charity in the county is appealing for donations to its Christmas Emergency Appeal.

Every donation we receive will enable us to support more of those living in crisis situations across Buckinghamshire. We are seeing more every day as a result of the cost of living crisis.

This year the cost-of-living-crisis has forced thousands of people into extreme hardship and this Christmas they face difficult choices. People in our community are having to choose between heating and eating. Even families who are working are struggling to pay for their children's clothes, food, or bills, incurring spiralling debt to meet daily costs of living. Children are going into school who have not eaten since their last free school meal. Many face the risk of eviction as rent arrears are mounting. Some people will break under this enormous pressure- and we want to be there for them before they do.

At Citizens Advice Bucks, our team of expert advisors help people to stabilise their situations- increase their incomes and find a way forward. We help over 1,000 people each month through this crisis yet demand for our service is far outstripping how many we can help. Yet, we need more funding to help everyone who needs us desperately.

Your donation can help us to help people on our Adviceline, helping to answer more calls for help.

I found the advice more than helpful. I have several learning difficulties and the adviser explained each bit to me before moving to talk about the next thing. She also explained that I could come back for more help if I needed too which was reassuring.
