Civic Pride Rossendale is a charity run entirely by volunteers who go out across the valley in all weathers (mainly rain!) making the public spaces cleaner, litter free, brighter with flowers and bushes, and wildlife friendly.

The volunteers are easily recognisable from their bright yellow high visibility jackets and muddy boots. You will see them out and about in Rawtenstall, Crawshawbooth, Waterfoot, Edenfield and sometimes up on the hills.

The aim of the charity is to contribute to making the valley towns pleasant, bright, colourful, communities to live in , work in and visit. To do this our volunteers go out picking litter and they regenerate and maintain community spaces. For example, the embankment opposite ASDA, the library gardens, Tricketts Memorial Ground, the garden at the bottom of Haslingden Old Road, Jubilee Gardens in Crawshawbooth, are all areas looked after by our volunteers. And there are many, many more, including the planters and barrier baskets in the town and village centres.

We don't do all this on our own. We have linked up with other local organisations, charities, schools and churches. We work with the support and help of the local authority, councillors and businesses.

Civic Pride Rossendale relies on grants and donations. Without money coming in we cannot do what we do.

£50 will purchase several colourful perennial plants. £30 will equip one of our gardeners with gloves, a trowel and a fork. £25 will pay for the compost and plants in a hanging basket. £10 will buy wildflower seeds.

We als need to replace the van that we use - it is well past its best before date! This is a considerabel expense for us but we really can't do what we do without one.
