It is our intention as Weymouth and Portland Round Table to donate to various charities and good causes across in the area. Local clubs in the past have donated to youth clubs, pre-schools, charities, elderly and disability causes to name just a few. We want to follow suit.

Story

Following the success in raising £1000 to help The Famous Old Spa in Weymouth to purchase a defibrillator for their premises. Weymouth and Portland Round Table would like to raise funds to have more of them installed around local public areas.

Defibrillators (AEDs) and effective CPR are the only definitive treatment for casualties of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Without immediate treatment, approximately 95% of SCA's are fatal.

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable life saving device that can give a casualtys heart an electric shock, when it has stopped beating normally in a sudden cardiac arrest.

A defibrillator works by checking the casualty's heart rhythm once the defibrillator pads are placed on their chest and giving them a shock if needed.

Defibrillators can be used on adults or children over one year old.

By using a defibrillator before an ambulance arrives, you can significantly increase someones chance of survival.
