Story
Eamonn was a devoted husband, son, brother and friend, known for his kindness, faith and love of music. He grew up in Bellshill, near Glasgow, and spent many summers in Ireland, where he developed a deep connection to Irish culture and traditional music. A talented bodhrán player, music brought Eamonn lifelong friendships and great joy.
A senior orthoptist, Eamonn moved to Galway in 2016, where he built a happy life with his wife Sarah, surrounded by close family and friends across Ireland and Scotland.
In 2022, Eamonn was diagnosed with a grade 4 astrocytoma. He faced his diagnosis with extraordinary courage and positivity, undergoing major surgery and intensive treatment while continuing to live life fully. Even during his illness, Eamonn remained incredibly generous, helping to raise over €15,000 for brain tumour charities because he desperately wanted a better future for others.
Eamonn passed away peacefully at home on 30 October 2024. His mantra, “At the end of the storm, the golden sky awaits,” continues to inspire all who knew him.
Eamonn’s Vision has been set up in his memory to support Brain Tumour Research and help fund better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
