Story
Equation's annual White Ribbon campaign asks people from our community to stand together in helping end men's violence against women. The emphasis on engaging our male allies to lead the way. We do this through promoting, selling, and wearing White Ribbons, which symbolize the campaign and help to raise awareness.
This year it has become even more important; with rises in incidents of domestic violence and abuse (from 2 women killed per week to 5 per week). In previous years, we usually reach around 2,500 men with our City Centre giveaway. But because of COVID we need to find new ways of adapting the campaign so this year we are taking it online.
You can play a huge part in helping to end violence towards women and girls in our community. By simply supporting our campaign and raising funds towards our work your donation will help us to:
- Educate children and young people to understand their right to a healthy relationship and how to recognise unhealthy relationship behaviours for themselves or a friend
- Deliver our awareness campaigns which help people to understand if they are experiencing domestic abuse where to reach support
- Distribute safety information throughout Nottingham, in over 10 community languages, helping people to know where to reach support for themselves or a friend
With significant rises in abuse, harassment and violence towards women during the pandemic, it has become more even more important that we work together and help make Nottingham a safer place to live.
