We have recently taken in an elderly Bichon Frisé that was in a terrible state needing extensive veterinary care. At 14 years old poor Faye is suffering with chronically inflamed and incredibly itchy skin all over her body – especially her ears and she needs an urgent dental as she has quite a few painful and rotten teeth that need to be removed. She has ingrowing nails, warts on her feet so struggles to walk and to top it off also has cataracts, and is potentially deaf.

Our charity specialises in caring for and rehoming elderly animals, so we are used to seeing old dogs and cats in a poor state of health needing some much needed TLC. All of Faye’s medical issues have been going on for many years and despite her previous owner’s best efforts were never completely resolved.

Faye is such a sweet little dog and she deserves to live the rest of her twilight years pain free and comfortable. If our amazing supporters could make a small donation towards her veterinary treatment, we would be so grateful for the support. We are looking forward to seeing her get better and seeing her skin heal up nicely so she can find a new loving retirement home”.

It is estimated it will cost £3,000 for all the treatment, specialist hypoallergenic food and medication that Fragile Faye will need now and into the future, as well as basic care such as neutering, flea and worm treatment and vaccinations. As she is an elderly dog and to make sure her skin doesn’t flare up again, We will continue to support her new owners with her veterinary care.

Gables does not receive any government funding so totally rely on donations given by the public, but we are determined to help Fragile Faye flourish.

If Gables is lucky enough to raise more money than is needed for this appeal, the excess will go into general funds to help all the animals in our care.
