When Lion arrived at the Home in June he was dishevelled and disorientated. With an injured back leg, missing teeth, and skin sores, you could immediately see he was in great pain and needed veterinary treatment. It was heart-breaking to see him in such rough shape.
When the vet examined him, poor Lion could barely move his back leg, which was abnormally shaped. X-rays revealed that Lion's leg was broken. In pain and trying to survive in the woods, Lion had gone so long without medical care, his leg had begun to heal in the wrong shape. At this point the decision was made to amputate Lion's leg. The bone was severely diseased, meaning an amputation was Lion's only hope of living pain free.
The operation was successful however while recovering another complication was found; Lion was anaemic and required an emergency blood transfusion.
Thankfully, the transfusion was a success and Lion is now recovering well at Bath Cats and Dogs Home. Since his operation, Lion is a completely different cat, transforming from timid and shutdown, to a loving boy who can't wait to climb onto your lap for a cuddle! Unfortunately, he is likely to face some long-term health issues due to a suspected heart murmur.
Lion has shown us that like many animals that come to us, he is a fighter.. Donate today to give Lion the care he deserves after spending so long fighting alone.
Your support will provide the shelter, food and any further medical care Lion may need to see him flourish into a happy and healthy cat ready to be rehomed.
Update: Good News, Lion has now been adopted. Whilst his medical needs are ongoing as he continues to recover from his surgery, Lion will be recovering from the comfort of his new forever home. All donations received to help cover the costs of Lions care and treatment are so gratefully received and any further donations made which exceed this will be used to support other animals in need who come into our care.
