Story
One month. Your challenge. Your miles. One community making a difference. This November, we’re inviting you to get moving for Kangaroos.
Miles for Kangaroos is our new inclusive fundraising challenge – and there’s no starting line, no set distance and no one-size-fits-all way to take part. Instead, you choose the challenge that means something to you.
Walk a mile with your family. Wheel your way through November. Set yourself a 1, 10, 25, 50 or even 100-mile target. Get your colleagues together for a workplace challenge. Take on your miles in one big adventure or a little at a time.
Because it doesn’t matter how far or how fast you go. Every mile you complete will become part of something much bigger.
One community. Hundreds of miles. One shared goal.
Throughout November, people across Sussex and beyond will be clocking up their miles for Kangaroos. You might complete yours on the school run, on weekend walks, with friends, from your wheelchair, on your lunch break or somewhere completely new.
We’ll be cheering you on along the way and watching as all those individual journeys add up to one incredible community total. And while every participant will have their own challenge, we’ll finish it together.
One final walk together: On 28th November, we’ll come together for a special festive finale at the Haywards Heath Lantern Parade, organised by The Orchards Shopping Centre. Kangaroos Members can sign up here for the parade; or email info@kangaroos.org.uk to sign up to walk with the Kangaroos Community.
Kangaroos members will be creating their own lanterns during our activity sessions, ready to carry as we join the short walk through town..
Miles for Kangaroos participants, members, families, friends and supporters will all be invited to join us as we celebrate the miles travelled, the money raised and everything our community has achieved together.
Whether the Lantern Parade is your final mile or your only mile, you’ll be part of it.
Everyone has a place in Miles for Kangaroos! Take part on your own, as a family, with friends, alongside colleagues or as a community group.
There is no minimum distance and no ‘right’ challenge. Every journey is different – and every mile matters.
When you sign up, you can create your own fundraising page and invite friends, family and colleagues to sponsor your challenge. Register with / login to Strava and connect your fundraising page by clicking 'Connect to Strava' on your page, to track your miles automatically and share photos.
Every participant’s fundraising will contribute towards one big Miles for Kangaroos total.
The money you raise will help Kangaroos continue providing clubs, activities, trips and family support for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities across Mid Sussex – creating opportunities for friendship, independence, new experiences and, most importantly, fun.
So, how will you do your miles? Will you walk or wheel? Set your challenge now and start fundraising. And this November, make every mile matter.
Walk it. Wheel it. Your way.
