Story
Every week, hundreds of people in our community rely on us — for food, clothing, connection, support and a place where they feel seen and valued. And right now, we’re facing a challenge that we can’t overcome alone.
This summer, we’re experiencing a gap in grant funding. It’s temporary, we’re confident of that, but the impact could be very real and even final. Grant funding is how we keep our doors open, how we run our foodbank and Community Pantry, how we support families in crisis, how we offer youth work, bereavement listening, children’s clothing and school uniform support and all the things that help people not just survive, but thrive as members of our community.
Behind every project are real people. It’s not just our nearly 120 local regular volunteers - it’s the people we support through every different part of our work. People struggling with the cost of living, sometimes choosing between heating and food. Young people learning to cook healthy meals and finding safe spaces to belong. Families finding clothes for their children with dignity. Older neighbours discovering friendship after loss. People fleeing domestic violence who need immediate, compassionate support. And we’re constantly responding to local need.
These aren’t extras. They’re lifelines. And without support, some OR ALL of this work could be forced to pause or even close – potentially as early as this summer. There’s a real risk this could be the end for our charity.
That’s why we’re asking our community to stand with us. If you’re able, a one off donation through our JustGiving appeal, a monthly gift as a Friend of PCP (pudseycommunity.org.uk/friends), or even sharing this message makes a huge difference. Every pound helps us keep food on shelves, keep young people supported, keep families connected to the help they need. Every pound given locally stays local, spent on our frontline work, supporting families right here in West Leeds.
