Story

It is with great sadness that we find ourselves creating this campaign.

Over the last four months Compton Hospice has been subject to break-ins at no less than six of our charity shops.

Between December 16 and March 17 thieves have forced their way into shops in Wolverhampton City Centre, Merry Hill, Cannock, Brierley Hill, Willenhall and Codsall and attempted to take money from the safes.

These heartless thieves are thought to have gotten away with a few hundred pounds, but the damaged caused in the process of the break-ins have left us with a repair bill of around £5000.

Windows have been smashed, doors ripped from their hinges, walls have quite literally been torn down, tills broken and CCTV systems destroyed. The most recent break-in at our Codsall store on 1st March took place during torrential down-pours and so damage caused by thieves who accessed the shop through the roof has resulted in severe water damage to stock - stock which has been lovingly donated by kind hearted supporters.

Probably most shockingly thieves have even gone so far as to rip open collection tins within the shops - making away with just a few coins.

As well as the physical impact on our stores, the break-ins have taken a toll on our volunteers and staff. Everyone at Compton Hospice works so hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to deliver the very best care for patients and their families.

We are incredibly disheartened by what has happened, but we will not be beaten.

This justgiving page has been set up at the request of a number of supporters who have expressed an interest in helping us to raise funds to repair damage to the shops.

Thank you for your support.
