Story

Over the last 10 years I have had 4 spinal surgeries with my most recent one being on 15th Dec 2016 - this was a 'L5/S1 posterior fusion & resection L5 surgery', or for those of us not in the medical world, a lot of metal screws and rods - see picture!

I was warned this was a big operation with only a 50% chance of improvement and that my actions during recovery would be key to the success and how well this works.

So I did what I always do and thought that sounds like a challenge - let's get on with it!  Coupled with my lifelong passion for animal welfare and the need to work very hard in my recovery to improve my every day life, it seemed the perfect opportunity to raise valuable funds to ensure the incredible work of all the staff and volunteers at RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield & District can continue - so the Pennine Way Fundraising Challenge was decided.

All 268 miles from Edale to Kirk Yetholm will be walked in stages by myself and my dad (who is literally supporting me with every step of this challenge and it's not easy for him either but something he has always wanted to do).  Each stage (usually about 9miles) is extremely painful for me so your support and donations would be truly appreciated by myself, my dad and certainly all of the animals we can help.

I will keep you posted throughout the whole challenge of the walks completed, my upcoming walks, and how the fundraising is going.  If you see me and my dad along the way please stop and have a chat with us, all encouragement would be welcomed and please feel free to give generously ;-)   Thank you so much Jen & Mac (Dad) xx
