Mini diary of events during the campathon
late November/early December 2005:
Friday 25.11 - The weather here in Stratford has improved over the last couple of days and therefore it should not be as icy as I was fearing - however due to the combination of on and off line sponsors I think over £1,000 will have been raised for Contact a Family which is fantastic but it does mean 5 nights on the roof and therefore there is plenty of time for the weather to deteriorate
Afternoon Saturday 26.11 - Tonight will be my first night - I spent some time this morning setting up the tent and have thermals and a flasks standing by - it looks like Wednesday will be my last night and I will be abseiling down Thursday lunchtime to round it all off
Night 1 - Saturday 26.11 - Well I got some sleep and it wasn't too cold. A mini bottle of Whiskey helped to set me up for the night (thanks Chantal) and I was soon off to sleep. After a few hours I was woken by a cold shudder, was it the RST ghost? I quickly got back to sleep and slept until the early morning rain. Not a bad first night.
Night 2 - Sunday 27.11 - it was quite odd going up to the roof on a Sunday night as the building was empty/creepy. It has now gone pretty icy. Slept very well (seem to be getting the hang of it) woke up to the local radio talking about me, very surreal
Night 3 - Monday 28.11 - brrrrrrrr it's snowing and this has been the coldest night so far but some sleep was had - beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel now
Night 4 - Tuesday 29.11 - spent some time before going to sleep wondering around the roof deciding where best to abseil from on Thursday. Slept pretty well but am looking forward to returning to my bed on Thursday night
Night 5 - Wednesday 30.11 - a warm night (relatively), typical the weather is getting warmer now that I am coming to the end! My last night on the roof, really looking forward to my own bed
Abseil - Thursday 01.12 - a few practice runs down in the morning and the main event at 1pm watched by press, radio, TV and staff of the RSC. A great way to round it all off - thank you to treejumpers.com for their assistance
That's it, it's all over, thank you to everyone who has been involved and especially to those who have donated - I'm well and truly "done in" now and will enjoy tonight's sleep with fond memories
