My story

Thanks for taking the time to read more about the cause I am supporting...

Having completed a half marathon last year I decided to step up to the ultimate goal of completing the London Marathon. I am raising money for the Alzheimer's Society as it is a cause close to my heart. My Nan developed Alzheimer's the year I was born and so I never really got to know her. Alzheimer's leads to the progressive degeneration of brain cells causing memory loss and soon individuals are reliant on help with all their daily activities.

My Grandad cared for my Nan late into his life before passing away before her. One of the saddest moments was that my Nan asked my Dad whose funeral it was as they brought my Grandad into the church. I felt that this story not only shows the severity of the disease on the individual with Alzheimer's but also the impact it can have on the families and friends that support them.

Alzheimer's currently affects around 417,000 people in the UK alone and as yet, no single factor has been identified as the cause. The Alzheimer's Society not only raises money to fund research but also provides daily care for people with dementia, as well as support for the families and friends coping with the demands of care. It is a cause I really believe in and I thank you for any contribution you can make to the Alzheimer's Society.

See you at the finish line!!!

I have also been very lucky to have set up the millionth fundraising page on the justgiving site. As a result justgiving is offering five £100 prizes for the charity of your choice to lucky people who sponsor me! So a donation that will make a difference to myself and Alzheimer's could also make a difference to your chosen charity too.

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far!!!
