Story

                      Cape Town Ultra Marathon

22nd March 2008
Covering 35 Miles and Two Oceans
                                                ------------
3rd December 2007 was the 40th Anniversary of the
                              World's First Heart Transplant
Performed by Christiaan Barnard in Cape Town

To mark this occasion we are endeavouring to raise some positive transplant and donor awareness, as well as some much needed funds for
"To Transplant & Beyond" . We will be taking part in The Cape Town Ultra Marathon - Yes, 35 miles!!

As usual we have totally financed ourselves in-order to take part in this event so every penny raised will go directly to the charity.

You probably already know John Fisher had a Heart Transplant in July 2000, and he will be the first heart recipient to take part in this event. Peter Russell will also be doing the FULL 35 Miles, while John's wife Jan will take part in the half marathon.

We have already been training for this event for several months, with blood, sweat and tears and now we are asking for your generous support.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us. The Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

About the charity

To Transplant and Beyond was established to give hope, encouragement and support to transplant patients, their families, friends and carers during a very traumatic time in their lives. It conveys the positive side of transplantation, by showing what can be achieved and by encouraging as many people as possible to join the donor register, so that many more lives can be saved.
