First there was London 2012 and now its Cap Ternay 2012!

On Thursday November 1 2012, the GVI Seychelles Cap Ternay Expedition Base will host its very own Olmypic Games. There will be five teams made up of staff and volunteers, each of which have to chose their country, national anthem and make Olympic Torches for the opening ceremony. You can expect to see them compete in events such as gymnastics, long jump, wrestling, tug of war, capture the flag, coconut shot put, relay's and there may even be an equestrian cross country event.

Please keep checking back as there will be lots happening over the next few weeks leading up to the main event. We will announce the countries, team members and also be uploading team photos. Friends and family at home can support their chosen team or an individual staff member or volunteer by making a donation online.  All contributions are greatly appreciated and go directly to the GVI’s President’s Village Charitable Trust account. 

The event will raise funds and awareness for GVI’s work with the President’s Village Children’s Home. 

The Presidents Village cares for children who are orphans or have parents that are not able to look after them. Some have been abused while others have disabilities or learning difficulties. All are in need of care and the home provides a safe environment for them to live.  In addition to feeding and clothing the children, the Presidents Village is looking to take a group on a family camping trip to Praslin, the first time several of the kids will travel off of the island of Mahe.  The contributions will continue to fund GVI’s support of these talented kids’extra curricular activities, which wouldn’t be possible without outside help.
