Whizz Kidz provides young wheelchair users with the equipment and skills they need to live life as independently as possible, at home, at school, at work and beyond.

Story

Hi

Another year older another challenge!?!  I will not be running the marathon for my 40th but in my 40th year which is still good.

I have chosen Whizz Kidz as my chosen charity as they have just supplied our daughter Hana with an all-terrain  buggy.  This will enable her to join in our outdoors life and reach places that were previously denied her.  She can even, when warmer, accompany me on my evening runs.

Being a former charity worker I was interested to learn of what  a small sized organisation Whizz Kidz are considering what they are trying to achieve and how many they try to cater for.  When they "bid" for the prestigious Tesco charity of the year slot the resulting huge boost to their funds meant that their waiting list went from 18 months to 3 months.  Thus more disabled children like Hana can widen the access of their worlds.

It makes a huge difference for us and Hana in inclusion, choice of holidays and events (it is also purple and fast!)

I hope that you feel able to support this charity through me as it is something that I have experience of and can recommend highly - I always like the "little person" to have their needs met.

Wishing you all the best for 2008 and a good wind behind me on 13/04/08!!!!!!! xxx

Apologies to Alfie that it will be on his 6th birthday!

10 April 2008 - did not realise that I could add updates.  I am so very touched not only by the sponsors but also the comments of support left - thank you!!
The training has been mainly cold and during school time as cannot go on long runs when Hana is home for the weekend.
I think all is in place and am trying to remain positive and strong; slowly but surely I will plod my way through the 26.2 miles.
My thoughts go to other runners and to the many charities that will benefit from just this one day.
Lastly my wholehearted gratitude to Andrew for his unwavering support and belief in me.
Watch this space - running vest is canary yellow and turquoise and particularly unflattering; other than that I am a runner in black!!
Huge thanks
Cara
