Story

Hi thanks for visiting my Just Giving page.
My name is Cara Leathem, I was born on 11 January 2010, 9 weeks early much to the surprise of Mummy and Daddy. I live in Balbriggan, County Dublin but Daddy is originally from Donaghmede and Mummy is from Helensburgh in Scotland. When I was 17 months old I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy which means I am unable to stand, walk or crawl because of the high tone in my legs. My left arm is also affected. I love Peppa Pig, Dora the Explorer, Mickey Mouse, books and playing with my toys. I have been accepted to have a potentially life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) at St Louis childrens Hospital, Missouri, USA. Mummy and Daddy are trying to raise €60,000 for the surgery and my aftercare. I will need intensive physio for a few years afterwards for me to reach my full potential. After the surgery I will hopefully be able to learn to do all the things everyone else takes for granted and play more easily with my cousins and friends.
Any donation, no matter how big or small will take me one step closer to my dream. All donations to Tree of Hope will go directly to helping Cara. For more information see www.caraswishtowalk.com
