Story

As many of you know I am not big on sending Christmas cards so, along with a few colleagues at work, have decided to spend the money we would have spent on buying cards and posting them making donations to charity instead.

This means we are not only saving paper, saving you the effort of putting them up only to have to take them down again but are also putting the money to (what might be considered) a better use whilst helping others at the same time in the true Christmas spirit.

I have chosen Help for Heros as my charity this year because, regardless of any personal views we all may have about the reasoning behind going to war and all that, at the end of the day (quoting the charity)...

"It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

Sorry if you were expecting a card - hopefully you agree this is something just as thoughtful and, just perhaps, more meaningful.

If you would like to make your own donation to the charity, please feel free to do so through this page. Money goes directly to the charity and if you're a UK taxpayer, remember to click the Gift Aid box too - it means the Government will add 28% to your donation at no extra cost.

Thank you and a very happy Christmas
