The Centre’s mission is to raise funds to undertake research to improve the survival and quality of life of men with prostate cancer.
Research focuses on three areas:
Understanding prostate cancer development and progression
Managing prostate cancer – identifying those who will benefit
Treatment– bringing results from laboratory to bedside
We are; Carl (Skip) Scout Leader, Ben, Group Scout Leader. Each week we give up out time to the 3rd Brampton Scout Group in Chesterfield. We have decided to dedicate even more of our time to the Snowdon 500 Challenge on the 16th May 2009, where we are hoping to raise at least £1000.00 towards the Prostate Cancer Research Centre.
Please give generously to this cause as it can affect your nearest and dearest at any time. Each year around 30,000 men are told they have prostate cancer and about 10,000 men die of it - that's one person every 50 minutes!! Despite this, the level of awareness and it's symptons are far less than for breast cancer, even though the death rates are similar. If it is diagnosed early enough it can be cured.
Please help, even small amounts are welcomed.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Prostate Cancer Research Centre gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
