Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As part of Children In Need week, I have been inspired to raise funds for my chosen charity, AYME, the Association of Young Persons with ME. I will travelling back in time, to a time where we did not have the luxury of our mobile phones, internet or TV. The moby will consigned to a drawer, Facebook and Gmail abandoned and the TV will gather dust. Though I have cunningly timed the week so that I dont miss out on X factor. But for one week, except for work, I will be isolated from cyberspace - what will I do? How will I cope?
My sister, Lisa, is doing the same and we plan to pretend that we are in a costume drama. We will enjoy the simple things in life, write letters and seal with wax, read in front of the fire, play the piano and do our embroidery. Actually that's a bit of a lie as I don't have wax, fire or a piano and I can't sew to save my life. I will have to think of something else instead or stare at the walls!
Staring at the wall...for a young person bedbound with M.E they can spend a lot of time staring at the wall, helplessly watching years of their young life pass them by. Isolated. Can you imagine? Have you ever been bedridden with flu where all you want to do is stay in a darkened room? Now imagine feeling like that for years of your young life? My sister spent 4 years feeling this way and thankfully is now on the slow journey to recovery. Cyberspace was her main contact with the outside world as she was often too poorly for visitors.
AYME were a boon to her, they supported her and us to stay positive, they put her in touch with others and widely advocate for the needs of young persons with ME. They are a small charity and we would like any donations to go to them. We would be hugely grateful for your donation to this very worthwhile cause. Thank you.
