Dear friend, Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. On 6th June 2008 I will be completing my second overseas challenge to raise much needed funds for the Animals Asia Foundation when I travel to Peru to complete the Inca Trail Trek. Before stumbling onto the AAF website I had no idea of the extent of animal cruelty in Asia and I was shocked, sickened and upset by the images of animals suffering. As well as raising money to assist AAF in the fantastic work they do, I also intend to raise awareness of the charity at every opportunity. Please visit their website www.animalsasia.org to see how you can help. Please also view the video on the left hand side of this page which tells the plight of the poor moon bears in the words of a moving poem written by a supporter of AAF. These animals cannot help themselves, they rely on people like you and I to help them so please do all you can. Every day more than 50,000 dogs and cats are slowly and cruelly slaughtered in China for food in the belief that 'torture equals taste'. 2,000 dogs per truck arrive at wholesale animal markets having spent 3 days and 3 nights squashed together in tiny cages, unable to move and without food, water or shelter. Asiatic Black Bears are incarcerated in tiny wire cages, with rusting metal catheters implanted in their abdomens through which bile is extracted twice a day. These bears are literally unable to move, they can't stand up, they can't turn around. Some of the bears spent more than 20 years in these conditions before being rescued by AAF and given their first taste of freedom. Please dig deep and sponsor me online or pay the money raised from your 'guess the dog's name' competition to this page and the money will go straight to the Animals Asia Foundation.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Animals Asia Foundation will receive your money directly and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support. Carol Anne
