Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As you probably know I was born with Cerebral Palsy. Athough I cope very well, the BIRD programme helped me to walk and perform more precise tasks making day to day living a lot easier. So it would be great if I could give something back by way of raising mega bucks for them! They help loads of people who are disabled by brain injuries, usually caused by damage at birth or if people have accidents or suffered from a stroke which can leave them with brain damage. So with your donations more disabled people will able to have the specialised treatment that only the BIRD Centre can give.
My fund raising idea is:
A few years ago our friends Mark & Carol took my hubby, John & I on a fantastic walk up High Dam in The South Lakes. Mark & John pushed me all the way to the top in my wheelchair. But they're not going to do that again, this time they are helping me to walk up! Some of our friends are coming with us and they will take it in turns to walk me up between two of them. I'm trying to increase my fitness level by bombing up and down stairs for 30 minutes a day! High Dam is a beautiful place to walk, so if you fancy joining us and maybe being used as a support under my arm I would be well pleased! It sounds like fun!
31st May this is what we did
We dammed well did it!
If I’d have wished for a perfect day it wouldn’t have been
as good as the day we did my sponsored walk.
The sun shone brilliantly which always lends its self to any situation.
Everything went as planned. Who else would be as lucky to have four
fellas walking them up and down a secluded part of the Lakes but me!
It took a bit doing walking over tree roots and boulders
(well alright then, stones!) but we did it!
We passed the 3 Dams Low, Middle and High. The view at the top was fantastic.
Coming down for me, was worse than going up. It was a bit like
that runaway train.
I was hanging onto Paul & Rod like there was no tomorrow, and
somewhere behind me was John holding on to my knickers trying to stop me from doing a nosedive! (That’s what he said he was doing!)
So, all in all it wasn’t a bad way to raise £732.00. To which I thank you all Very much for your generosity in sponsoring me. I can’t express enough how much The B.I.R.D Centre deserves it.
But, my biggest thanks goes to everyone looked who after me.
I couldn’t have done it without you.
They are John, Mark, Matthew, Paul, Pam, Rod, Laura & Russ
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Centre for Brain Injury Rehabilitation & Development (B.I.R.D) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now
Lots of Love
