Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've been a runner, on and off, since my twenties, but for the past five
years, my husband and I have been navigating the rough and testing seas of fertility treatment, so running has taken a definite back seat, until recently, as after our fourth failed IVF attempt, we have decided it is  time to gracefully admit defeat and accept that we won't have our own children.

Infertility has been our hardest fight, But despite this, we are determined to pick ourselves up,  and do our very best to celebrate the life we have, and all the wonderful things in it - running a marathon seems a great way to do that!

I've been lucky enough to gain a space on The Manchester Marathon after winning Women's Running magazines Big Marathon Challenge, and am being coached and supported through my training by an amazing team - so there's no option of backing out!!

For me, running was a saviour through many of our early tough times, but through our last three rounds of treatment, and for a year or two I  stopped running pretty much altogether, on the advice of our specialist sticking to long dog walks on our farm..

For me, getting back into running is a huge part of getting 'me' back.
Running gives me space to remember who i am, it sets me challenges that  i know i can achieve if i work hard, and when everything feels too much, it reminds me that
instead of being frustrated and angry with my body for what it can't do, I owe it to myself to celebrate it for all it can.

I've been lucky to have an incredible support network around me through the years, but despite that,Infertility is still the loneliest, most  isolating journey. Fertility Network provide people in our situation with  much needed advice, information and support and are so deserving of any fundraising efforts.

It's only when you're in a particular situation that you realise just how many others are going through the same thing. I'm happy to talk about our struggles but I know a lot of people who choose to keep their journey to themselves and I know that Fertility Network is invaluable to those people too.
