21/09/10 Update:
I completed the Great North Run in 2:17:35. A little bit slower than hoped but I did run all the way :-)
Thanks very much to everyone who has supported me and donated towards sending Demi-Lee to Disneyland. This page will be open for a little while yet so any last minute donations will be very welcome.
Thanks again everyone! I'm already planning my next half marathon. Aiming for under 2 hours of course :-)

On September 19th 2010, Caroline Bell of www.equineonline.net will be one of 54,000 people running the Great North Run Half Marathon (13.1 miles).
Who is she running for....
Caroline is running in aid of Starlight, a UK based charity dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously and terminally ill children.
Specifically, she will be running for Demi-Lee (photos attached), whose dream is to travel to Disneyland, Florida to meet Mickey Mouse.
Demi-Lee is 7 years old and is severely poorly with epilepsy. Having already undergone a Gastrostomy (the insertion of an external feeding tube) to help manager her condition, she’ll face many more hospital stays and will undoubtedly need a high level of supportive care throughout her life.
Caroline would love to raise enough money to send Demi-Lee on her trip of a lifetime, and give her and her family some amazing memories to cherish forever, whatever the future may hold.
Training...
Caroline started running last year at the age of forty. Proof that it’s never too late to get yourself fit! Having run several 10k events she was given the opportunity to raise money for Demi-Lee whilst at the same time achieving an ambition to do the Great North Run.
It’s taken 3 months of gruelling training consisting of on and off road running, treadmills and weights to get fit enough to do the run.
Having reached her pre-race goal of running12 miles in two hours Caroline is aiming for a finishing time of approximately 2 hours 10 minutes.
How can you help?
