Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  I am taking part in the Playtex Moonwalk 2009 13.1 miles which takes place in London starting in Hyde Park at midnight on May 16th to raise funds and awareness for the breast cancer charity WalktheWalk. My walker number is 4193. Look out for my posts on Twitter & FB on the night.

In September 2008 my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer at the wonderful age of 74 and is going through a lot emotionally as well as physically with a double lumpectomy scheduled for 28th October 2008.  For this huge reason I am walking in celebration of her, my mum! It's the least I can do for all she has done for me.

31.10.08 The op has gone well and mum is home and happy so we now have to wait for the results.

17.11.08 Hospital results this afternoon and although the op was a success mum has to go ahead with a course of Radiotherapy due to what was found in the lymph nodes.  It's such a shame that they weren't clear, but bring it on!

03.12.08 Mum's consultation with the Oncologist to start the process of Radiotherapy. They've decided the treatment can wait till January as there are too many bank holidays over the Christmas period to get a 'good session' going.

15.12.08 Mum's bone density scan which I shall be taking her to as she'll have an injection of radiation and then sent away for 3 hours. I bet she'll look like the Readybrek woman! Wednesday is a CT scan, so it's a week full of scans!

22.12.08 Back to the Oncologist to get 'sized up', discuss scan results and dates for Radiotherapy. Have been given the 9th Jan for a simulated test I guess to make sure mum has been 'marked' up correctly and for her to know the drill though we still have no date for the actual start.

09.01.09 After a week of mixed up appointments,  mum's simulated tests have been moved to 14th Jan, which should have been the start of the Radiotherapy but that's been postponed.   It's been a frustrating week.

14.01.09 A better day of tests today, mum has been given another date for the Radiotherapy to start which is Mon 19th at 3.20pm, fingers crossed this will take place!!

19.01.09 Hoorah! mum has finally had her first session of Radiotherapy!  Donned in a rather fetching yellow smock top issued by the hospital she had her appointment on time at 3.20pm.  She called me at 4.20pm saying she was home and feeling relieved it had started and the first one was over.

05.02.09 We are four weeks into my Moonwalk training ( it's hard work but fun!) and 13 sessions into mum's radiotherapy, one was cancelled due to a slight downpour of the white stuff, but thats been tagged onto the end.  Mum is doing fine and getting quite accustomed to her daily trips to Queens in Romford.  M&D are hopefully having a weekend away in Great Yarmouth for some quality time together including visiting family dependant on the weather, I dont know a couple who deserve it more xxxx

14.02.09 Only six more sessions to go for mum's Radiotherapy,  Last one booked for 23/2.  My training is on hold as I have an ear infection, but hopefully will be fine by Monday to restart.

21.02.09 It's mum's last Radiotherapy session on Monday which seems amazing! She has done really well and can't believe herself that the treatment is finishing.  We then have to wait 6/8 weeks for a check up to give the Radium enough time to leave her body.

22.02.09 My official training schedule from WalktheWalk started today so all I have done since Jan 3rd has got me up to scratch for the long haul.

23.02.09 4pm Mum visited hospital for the last Radiotherapy session today and celebrated with a glass of the dry white stuff at the Cedars with Dad afterwards! Cheers mum and well done xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

17.03.09 After celebrating my birthday on the 14th we have news today that the theme for the Moonwalk has been announced:- ''This years theme will be Strictly Walking! So make those bras glitzy and glamorous and wow the streets of London!'' - Don't forget all ideas, suggestions greatly received xx

April 6th is results day - MY MUM HAS HAD THE ALL CLEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She has to go back every 3 months for check ups but what better news could we possibly have?? This day has been the bestest day ever x

17.04.09 WOW I have reached and passed my target! I am so thankful and just wondering what we can reach!

19.04.09 Did my longest training session of 8 miles this morning in 2 hrs 5 mins which I am rather chuffed with though very slightly stiff now!!

25.04.09 2nd 8 miler this morning and I beat my time by 5 mins! I've got a couple 'small' 4 milers Tues & Thurs and then Sunday 3/5 is the big 10 mile practice eekk!!

03.05.09 I set off for the 10 mile trek this morning at 7.40am! It was hard going in the sunshine but I managed 2 hrs and 40 mins which is a 16 min mile!! I know its not a race but its nice to know I am keeping up 'a pace'.  I've got 4 more 3 mile training sessions to do before the 16th. I guess they'll feel quite easy, let's hope so!

09.05.09 I didn't manage to train during the week so am going out today and tomorrow on 2 x 3 mile walks.  I cannot believe the MoonWalk is NEXT SATURDAY..........eeekkkkk I've already had one nightmare that I couldnt find my way out of the big pink Playtex City tent to start the walk! What will the dreams hold over the next week?

14.05.09 I'm now off till Tuesday to get prepared and recover!! Tomorrow I am spending the day with mum for her 75th birthday. Happy birthday mum xx Apart from nerves, I am very excited about Saturday night, all the training has been done, the bra is ready and the day glo pink tutu is gagging to be worn!! I will be updating my Twitter page through the night with my progress so either follow me on that (cazlorenzo) or log into Facebook (caroline lorenzo), that is ofcourse if you are awake!!!! All I know is there is a bottle of pink champagne waiting for me at the finish line with my cheerleading team of John and Helen xxxxxxxxx

17.05.09 Well I only went and did it!! Last night was truly amazing!  After 4 hours of entertainment, food and great fun we started the Moonwalk.  I passed the start line at 00.10 and went out into the night.  London looks really different at that time let me tell you.  We had alot of police support with stopping traffic etc. mind we did a pretty good job of that ourselves, imagine seeing 15,000 women in decorated bras walking the streets of London!!  The route took us past Buck Palace, Horseguards, Big Ben, right along the Embankment, Blackfriars, St Paul's, across London Bridge and all the way back down the Southbank!! John and Helen were my cheerleaders for the night and gave me huge hugs and encouragement at the London Eye when I needed it most.  They did me proud.  they must have been so cold and tired but were fab.  I finished in exactly 4 hours crossing the finish line at 04.10.  I have never been so tired in my life but also never so overwhelmed.   A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me and sponsored me.  This all happened when my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and after winning her battle, I have now won my own little medal in her honour. I'VE GOT MY MEDAL MUM!!!!

I have  finished decorating my bra with feathers, beading,  and pom poms so I will look the biz on the night!  I have acquired a few glow sticks too! The theme is 'STRICTLY WALKING' !
