MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is a neutral and impartial humanitarian organisation clearing the remnants of conflict for the benefit of communities worldwide. MAG is co-laureate of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize, awarded for its work with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL), which culminated in the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty - the international agreement that bans antipersonnel landmines, sometimes referred to as the Ottawa Convention. MAG moves into current and former conflict zones to clear the remnants of those conflicts, enabling recovery and assisting the development of affected populations. MAG consults with local communities and works to lessen the threat of death and injury, while releasing reclaimed and safe land and other vital resources back to the local population, helping countries to rebuild and develop their social and economic potential. MAG has worked in around 35 countries since 1989 and currently has operations in Angola, Burundi, Cambodia, Chad, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Lao P.D.R., Lebanon, Republic of Congo, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Vietnam.

My story

Hey, thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Next February (2010) I am taking part in a charity cycle ride through Vietnam and Cambodia, The cycle ride is to raise mony for the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), www.maginternational.org , which as you can see by either visiting the website, reading below or watching the youtube video, is a very worthwhile charity.

The cycle takes place from 25th February to 7th March 2010 and I will cycle about 470km, therefore I have already begun training!

As £2950 is such a large amount of money to raise I need to start fundaising as soon as possible and was hoping you would be able to help me reach this target, which I am aiming to reach through sponsorships and other charitable events. I would be really grateful if you would be able to make a donation, however small.

£15 is enough to field a fully trained and equipped local deminer for one day
£20 Could buy overalls for a deminer
£30 Could buy a pair of sturdy boots
£40 Could provideprotective headwear such as helmets and visors
...
£25,000 could pay for a fully-equipped MAG vehicle for transporting staff and equipment.
