My story

'What matters most of all is the dash between the years'

This page has been created in memory of John Russell 1959 - 2008

Our Dad was diagnosed with Fibrosing Alveolitis and was awaiting a life saving Lung Transplant. Regrettably his illness was terminal and as his condition became more acute time ran out to find a suitable match for a donor.

Our Dad was 59 years old when he passed away on the 7th October 2008.

He was an exceptionally generous and helpful man, who would give you his last penny to see you alright. He was a man that would stand up and be counted and not be afraid to show his support and be there for you when it mattered.

Our Mum and Dad spoke highly of the staff at Freeman Hospital and the Freeman Heart and Lung Transplant Association who provided invaluable support for patients and relatives like my Mum and Dad.

Thank you for your kind expression of generosity in memory of John Russell.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Freeman Heart & Lung Transplant Associaiton gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
