At least 1.9 million children in the UK are struggling to talk and understand words.  We give children and young people the skills they need so they aren't left behind. We do this by creating tools for schools and nurseries, giving advice and guidance to families and putting pressure on politicians.

Story

Thanks for visiting! As some of you will know, Sing & Sign support the ICAN childrens' communication charity nationally and we raise money across all our classes each year - last year we managed over £5000! We're shooting for even more this year and so all our classes across the country (from Orkney to Scilly!) are having sponsored events, with our signing babies and toddlers being sponsored by their families to dress up as animals for a specially themed class.

I'll be running three special sessions in Bolton at the end of Summer term on 18th and 22nd of July for my classes, and my daughter Kirsten (who's 3.5yo) very quickly talked me into dressing up along with everybody else to teach them! She'll be coming along to one of the sessions as a rabbit and I'll be doing them all as a cat, complete with ears, whiskers, tail, collar and fluffy paws! :D

So please sponsor Kirsten and I to dress up, and I will teach all my classes looking like a complete fool! Every penny you can spare is a wonderful thing; communication skills are SO important for children everywhere and ICAN really needs your help. Early gesture is an important component of speech development for all children, whether they have communication problems or not, so we're very proud and happy to support ICAN wherever we can. If we raise £100 I will also pledge to have a photo of me dressed up as my Facebook profile pic for the next month, eek!
