EVENT UPDATE ...
Well I did it in a time of 9 hours 15 minutes which I was delighted with!
At 11.30pm I set off from Esporta, Cookridge to Otley, Guiseley, Horsforth, Kirkstall,Leeds, Headingley and back to Cookridge. I now know why real athletes don't make their carb loaded pre event meal of choice as spicy chicken pizza and potato wedges, the effects of which lasted long into the night!
It was a fairly uneventful night – good weather and I made excellent progress, covering 24 miles in 7 hours. I was experiencing different aches, pains and twinges that seemed to pass as a new one started (think that’s an age thing!)
All was well until the 24 mile point, Sky Rack pub in Headingley when my legs started to slow down and gradually every ache and pain came back into my legs and by the time I was heading back up to Cookridge, they ceased and would not shift!
That last two miles seemed to take an age - the legs became heavier with every step, to the point that I could hardly lift them over the kerb and speed bumps going into Esporta caused mountainous problems!
I did think that my knees would never be the same again, but I don’t feel too bad today - so after saying categorically yesterday, never again, i might yet be tempted to do something daft once again!
Watch this space!

Well, I have been promising to do a challenging sports event for about two years now, and this time I am serious!
I am now in training to walk 30 miles in 10 hours, overnight from midnight to 10:00 am on Sunday 1st March 2009.
I am doing this as part of the 24 hr Sportathon organised for Andrea's Gift (more details on the event at www.andreasgift.org.uk).
Any money raised will support the Brain Tumour Research Unit fund.
Each year the Leeds Teaching Hospitals see around 600 people across Yorkshire who are diagnosed with a primary brain tumour, 25 of these will be children.
These amazing people inspire me every day - I have no idea where they get their strength, stamina and ability to cope with the incredibly difficult symptoms and the unpredictability of a brain tumour diagnosis.
Your help and support is, as always, very much appreciated.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Andrea's Gift gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
