Hey folks, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may know, my dad was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma (a type of leukaemia) in December 2007. Initially he responded well to the treatment and stayed his usual self throughout his illness. When I joined my local Jogscotland group in 2009 he joked that I take everything to extremes and I'd be running the London Marathon next!! To which I replied "No bother jeck, I'll run the London Marathon if you stop smoking!!"

He did stop smoking shortly after that and we used to joke about the marathon from time to time. Sadly dad passed away on 21st February 2010 after fighting a courageous battle with the disease.

Now Im going to keep my side of the deal and in April 2011 I will be running the Virgin London Marathon to raise money and awareness for Anthony Nolan in loving memory of my brave dad. Anthony Nolan is a fantastic charity that recruits and matches donors with patients who need lifesaving stem cell and bone marrow transplants.

Believe it or not my dad was one of the lucky ones!! His doctors managed to find a donor but the disease was so agressive in his case, that they couldnt proceed with the transplant. For every person who is lucky enough to be matched with a donor there is still someone out there who gets the devastating news that the search for a donor has been unsuccessful.
