This is for my Dad John and my Aunty Ester The staff at St Francis cared for my Aunty back in 2006. I never actually went to visit my Aunty while she was there unfortunately, something that I do regret now. I think it was all a bit scary really, going to visit someone in a place where you knew they had gone to die! I remember my Mum saying they all the staff there were excellent and cared for her very well in her last days. Last summer my Dad got very ill with cancer and in January of this year he was admitted to St Francis for treatment, he was only meant to be there for a few days, well the days went into weeks. While Dad was in there it was his birthday, all the staff where excellent and made a cake for him. I could not visit as I was away at the time and to be truthfully had not plucked up the courage. Still a scary thought - when I got back I did go and visit him and was surprised at how all the staff treated you, all very happy and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. To cut a long story short Dad did get to go back to Mum's who had been looking after him very well for some months and some of the staff visited at home. His last wish shortly after this was to go back to St Francis to die where he felt safe!! His wish was granted just in time. At such a difficult time the staff were always there when needed and did an excellent job. For that our family are truly grateful.
