Everest Base Camp · 5 July 2005

The Foundation was set up to fund nursing projects for the poor and needy in Sri Lanka. Its purpose is to provide free nursing care for the infirm, elderly and terminal ill in the low-income group and it is also involved in relief and rehabilitation projects following the recent Tsunami.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

As you know, I will be trekking to Everest Base Camp (5,357m) with Ro and three of her friends. My main and initial reason for taking part in this trek is in memory of two friends and colleagues of mine, Sam Harber and James Rouke who organised a hike up the Grande Motte in Tignes last winter in order to raise money for the victims of the tsunami in Sri Lanka. Tragically, Sam and James lost their lives on the same mountain in April only a few months later. My wish to continue their fundraising efforts for SHARE and the memory of their generosity and kind heartedness helps me during the training that I am undertaking in order to prepare for the hike and will no doubt keep me going on my way to Base Camp!

Another motivating factor is obviously that this will be a great personal challenge which requires months of preparation and will present more than a few challenges before and during the trek.

Thank you in advance for your donations, large or small and for all your help and support, it is very much appreciated.
