I am cycling from London to Paris on behalf of Amnesty and will be specifically highlighting the plight of Shi Tao. “In 2004 poet and journalist Shi Tao sent an email describing the Chinese government's instructions to the Chinese media for covering the 15th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square crackdown. Internet service provider Yahoo! helped the Chinese authorities to identify Shi Tao, which led to his arrest on charges of 'illegally providing state secrets to foreign entities'. He was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment.
