Hallam FM & Magic AM’s Cash for Kids Day in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust is on Friday 27th May!
Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity devoted to improving the lives of young people with cancer. Every day in the UK, six young people are told they have cancer. Usually placed on a children’s ward or with elderly patients, young people often feel extremely isolated when facing a cancer diagnosis.
Teenage Cancer Trust builds units in NHS hospitals that offer young people specialist care, bringing them together so they can support each other in an environment suited to them. The units’ home-from-home feel creates a sense of normality, containing social areas with pool tables, comfy sofas, music, laptops, wifi, Skype and TVs. They are bright and vibrant and designed to give young people the very best chance of a positive outcome.
Young people have a much better chance in their fight against cancer if they are treated by teenage cancer experts, in an environment tailored to their needs. Teenage Cancer Trust aims to build enough units so that by 2012, every teenager in the country will have access to the specialist support they provide.
Together we can make this happen - so our own children’s charity Cash for Kids is working in partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust in South Yorkshire to make a difference to two local projects in Sheffield at the Royal Hallamshire and Western Park Hospitals.
