On January 28th 2009, our nine year old daughter Bethany fell on the play ground at school. Cath took her to the GP and we were sent home. Whilst at home her condition deteriorated and an ambulance was called and, by the time we arrived in Bath Royal United hospital, Bethany was in a coma. It was established that Bethany had fractured her skull when she fell, severed an artery surrounding her brain and a huge bleed was putting her in a life threatening condition. Bethany was blue lighted to Frenchay hospital where the operating theatre had been cleared and her life was saved by a team of surgeons. We were told that without surgery, Bethany had just ten minutes to live. Bethany was put on life support for four days where she was cared for by a team of specialist nurses in the paediatric intensive care unit. Bethany was then cared for by fantastic staff on the Barbara Russell Childrens Ward at Frenchay. After fifteen days, Bethany was able to come home and we are thrilled to say that she has made a full recovery. Mike and Cath have decided to run the Bristol half marathon on September 6th 2009 to raise money for the childrens ward as a thank you to them. We aim to raise £1000 so would really appreciate any donation.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you very much from Mike, Cath, Dan and Bethany Williams.
