Hey guys,
As you know, I've decided to run the Flora London Marathon 2008 for BEAT, and I'm looking for support. I figured that online sponsorship is easiest for most people so here it is! Please give as little or much as you fancy, any dontations are really appreciated. When deciding how much to donate, bear in mind the torture I'm about to put myself through ! I think I might be a bit nuts. Oh well. Most people seem to think that already! But I promsie, I AM going to finish the course, and it's for a great cause! For further information see http://www.b-eat.co.uk/Home. Thank you,
Cat x
FINISHED!!!!! It's all over. I did it in 6 hours, 0 minutes, and 54 seconds. Now I am very very sore and have a pulled leg muscle, but it was so worth it. I even got to see the people that came to support me 4 times on the way round which helped so much and I celebrated with them afterwards I'm so glad that I took part. Thank you very much to everyone who sponsored me, we've raised a lot of money for a really good cause and I managed to do something I was scared of doing. Also it's so true what everyone says about the London Marathon atmosphere - it's really good and the crowds were so supportive, even though it was pouring with rain/hail in places, they still stayed watching and cheering. It makes a big difference I think. I might even try it again one day!
3 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok so it's getting very close. Today I officially registered, picked up my running number, and collected my chip to go on my shoe (measures my official time). Nerves are setting in now, but I'm also excited. The main thing is that I finish. I'll write on here again afterwards to let you all know how it went! Thank you to everyone for your support too
26 DAYS TO GO: Training was affected by a pulled leg muscle over the last few weeks- not so good. The Dr said to reduce exercise and do lots of stretching; apparently I got hurt because I'm so unflexible (I really am). So, today will be my first long run (I hope) in a little while. Fingers crossed it goes ok! I can't believe how close the big day is getting! Maybe today I'll warm up with extra stretches before going out, since Ronnie left a "hip-Hop workout" round here friday night lol.
6 WEEKS AND 3 DAYS TO GO: Training is hard work. I really need to start building up longer distances now, as so far I haven't gone over 10 miles. Hmmm.. BUT if it's true that a Blue Peter presenter apparently did all his training in 5 weeks and managed ok, then I will be fine
9 WEEKS AND ONE DAY TO GO: Training is slow going: I am so unfit. Hmmm. Hope I improve a lot over the next few weeks! But I'm getting somewhere........
DAY 1: 25/1/08 I'm off to buy trainers, and meet with a guy to discuss a training program.
