This is really Catherine's story.

Aged 22 she was diagnosed with a glioblastoma - a brain tumour - and her oncologists gave her six months to live. Catherine and her father Chris - both science graduates - did their research to find out what treatments would be most effective. They learned a lot. Because of what they learned and put into practice, Catherine lived 8 times longer than predicted.

When she became ill, Catherine had just graduated in law and chemistry from Bristol university, she had a job at Vogue, a wonderful boyfriend, and what promised to be a glittering life ahead. She felt it wasn't fair. And she wasn't really interested in cancer; she was very interested indeed in life.

The charity CANCERactive grew from all the work she and Chris had done during her illness. Specifically in Catherine's memory, a Catherine Corner is an information station supplied by CANCERactive - a computer linking to the CANCERactive website, in a quiet space filled with additional information such as back copies of the CANCERactive magazine ICON (Integrated Cancer and Oncology News). This appeal is specifically for funds to set up a Catherine Corner in the Margaret Hills shop in Kenilworth. At the moment, the nearest Catherine Corner is in the Wirrall in Cheshire.

As Chris says on the website,
Our aim is to provide the Truth - evidence-based, intelligent information - so you can make more informed choices and even build your own personal integrated or holistic treatment programme that will give you a better chance of beating this terrible disease, a total programme including forms of mental therapy, exercise, or supplements and diet for example. 
And as he also points out, CANCERactive has no vested interests and receives no funding from any organisations such as pharmaceutical companies.
