FINISHED 100% WOOOHOO!!! Any donations made after my total is reached will be sent to Project Trust and are still greatly appreciated. THANK YOU for everyone who has donated so far! Thank you for reaching my fundraising page, I would be delighted if you could sponsor me for my one year overseas in Guyana, South America with Project Trust. There I will be teaching the equivalent to standard grade and GCSE maths and science to school children. Living in Guyana will give me the opportunity to live in a very remote environment and fit into a new culture!
I will be going abroad for a whole 12 months and I really need the help to make that possible. Project Trust is a non-profit, educational charity that sends enthusiastic volunteers to work in 24 countries all across the world, without taking work from the local people.
Here is some information about the project from the Project Trust website. "All the projects involve teaching Maths and Science in government run secondary schools. The facilities are limited, schools are poor quality wooden buildings, the standard of education is generally poor and the volunteers need to have a good deal of determination and enthusiasm to teach classes as large as sixty. Most projects are based in the Interior, which can only be reached by plane, ferry or a very long journey in the back of truck. The remoteness of these projects makes them some of the most challenging in our programme. Here too, volunteers teach in small government schools which cater largely for the Amerindian population."
I am so excited about this trip yet i've got to raise the grand total of £4480 before I get to go, each day costing £12. I have to raise these funds myself. So please, please, please make a donation- if you believe this to be a worthy cause, no matter how big or small, to make this year possible!
