Catherine Watkins. Our Wife, Mum, Nan, Mother In Law, Aunty, Best Friend, Foster Mum .... the bravest lady we know.
Kate was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and Metestatic Liver Cancer 12th August 2010 aged 55. The prognosis for this disease is never good, months rather than years. Most people are diagnosed with this cancer in advanced stages, the cancer has already spread and there is very little that can be done other than palliative care. This needs to change.
Kate had a wishlist of things she wanted to do in her time left. One of the first things that she mentioned was to Skydive. There are a team of 8 of us skydiving in our Mum's memory, on 22nd May 2011.
Kate died on 16th October 2011, just 8 weeks and 3 days after diagnosis. A fellow pancreatic cancer patient has offered to jump in her place. We wish that Kate would be jumping with us, as it was her wish, but we will be doing it with pride on her behalf !
The jump team are: Jordan (Cancer Patient) now jumping in Kate's place, Siobhan Sinclair (Daughter), Kirsty Renvoize (Daughter), Matthew Renvoize (Son), Alex Tower (Son in law), Kirstie Rosier (Friend), Paul Maynard (Friend) and Steven Spooner (Friend).
All monies raised will go to the Pacreatic Cancer UK charity.
This amazing lady fought her own illness but wanted to raise awareness to help others. The statistics and prognosis for this disease remain almost unchanged in 40 years and we want to do anything we can to prevent other individuals and families suffering the devestation that we are.
We plead with you to sponsor us, to achieve one of Kate's wishes and to assist in helping fight Pancreatic Cancer.
Kate's story was in the Evening Echo on 23rd August 2010. The link to see this story is:

Thank you everyone .... without your support we wouldn't have been able to do this. We are so pleased that we have been able to raise awareness for such an unforgiving disease.
