The most stupid thing to do with 2 weeks in India?
On December 31st 2011 three unorganised, unsupervised, domesticated cats will be let out to roam the unforgiving Indian wilderness in a bid to conquer The Rickshaw Run: 2500 perilous kilometres through Indias neglected roads and anarchic traffic.
From the barren desert of Rajasthan to the ancient port of Cochin, these intrepid travellers have only themselves and a battered wagon at their disposal to get from A to B (via C,E and possibly J).
It's an adventure, sure. But with adventure comes great responsibility. The responsibility to understand the facets of a country simmering with cultures and customs far removed from theirs, and to give something back to the country that's welcomed them in with open (hopefully) arms. So in the spirit of this, we will persevere to raise above and beyond £1000, for a charity that has the passion and humanity to help us help India.
Here's something to think about.
In the amount of time it takes you:
- To poach an egg
- To tie your shoe laces
- Say "Cats in a Hot Tin Tuk"
- To walk to your kitchen for a glass of water
- To be about ready to leave the studio (if you're The So Solid Crew...which you aren't).
A child in India dies every 20 seconds from water related diseases.
Our chosen charity, FRANK Water, was founded by Katie Alcott in 2005, after she visited India and contracted dysentery after drinking dirty water. Coming back to the UK she realised that by selling ethical bottled water she could use the profits to fund new clean water facilities for villages in need.
5 years on…FRANK Water is now two distinct entities. FRANK Water Projects, a small registered charity (No. 1121273) that can receive your direct donations, and FRANK Water Products, a not-for-profit social enterprise which continues to give 100% of its profits to the charity.
Your support really matters. In a world where more than 4,000 children die EVERY DAY from a lack of clean drinking water, it’s clear that help is urgently needed.
Please help us to help India and donate now!
