Story

On the 19th June, 6 rowing crews from Cambridge and Oxford university will race across the English Channel to raise money for cancer research.

The English Channel is the pinnacle of ocean rowing in the UK. The distance from England to France is 21miles. It is well known for being one of the most challenging stretches of water in the world.

The challenging race will start at Shakespeare Beach in Dover and will finish when the rower steps onto French sand, after 5 hours of intense rowing.

It will be a tough challenge requiring strength, stamina, perfect technique but most of all the will to excel despite pain, exhaustion and arduous conditions. It will take all the excitement from Henley or 'the boat race' and add the sense of danger from crossing the English Channel. This is a test of pure endurance. One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime which is why we, the organisers, have chosen to put the event on in aid of Cancer Research UK. We hope that you are able to help this fantastic cause. See our website for further information regarding the race.
