Hi - A big thank you from Donna Lynch, Una Crompton, Sandra Sharrod and Martin Sharrod for visiting our  fundraising page.

We are all members of Cove Cricket Club who meet up on a Sunday morning to go running and to catch up on the weekly gossip. What started out as running for an hour has culminated in us all running in this years London Marathon. For Donna and Una it's their first marathon. For Sandra and Martin it's their third. We've teamed up together to raise as much money as possible for "The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice"

The hospice provides specialist palliative care to those facing the end of their lives and to those who love and care for them.  It costs £10,000 per day to keep the hospice open. Last year NHS funding accounted for 13% of the income required by Phyllis Tuckwell to run it's full range of services. The other 87% had to be funded by other sources of income. Hence the reason for us raising money for Phyllis Tuckwell. If you want to know more why not spend four minutes watching their video.

We recently visited the hospice and were all very moved and inspired by the dedication of the staff and volunteers that we met. One of the goals of the hospice for 2009 is to re-open the final 2 beds that were previously closed due to lack of funding. Hopefully any money we raise can go towards helping that happen.

With the help of Jason Dalton, Mark Bonney, Lorraine Stratton and Jessica Lynch we've organised a number of events that we've held at Cove Cricket Club. There was the Sunday Lunch (22/02), Race Night (07/03) and Quiz Night (26/03). All were well supported and raised much needed money for Phyllis Tuckwell. The family skittles night (04/04) wasn't so successful but we've redeemed ourselves with a silent auction. Bids closed on Good Friday and in total the auction raised £1,009.50 for Phyllis Tuckwell. Well done to Mark for raising the most amount of money for the auction.

There's one more event to go before running the marathon. We're hosting a charity curry night at Vujon's in Cove (19/04).
