Story
HELLO!!!!!!
We are running the London Marathon in memory of our great friend, Katie Hoppe. Katie had Non Hodgkins Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, but it never stopped her achieving her goals. In 2007, Katie shaved her head for The Lymphoma Association, a charity that offers support and information on a range of issues to people with lymphatic cancers, their families, carers and their friends. She chose it because it offers a service specifically for young people who have the illness, and it really helped her in the initial stages at a crucial and difficult time.
Katie and Celia had games together every week for five years while at school, and we know that she will be chuckling at us as we huff and puff our way round London in April. Please give generously as if you know us both, you will know that we are not known for our athletic ability and your support will be the encouragement that gets us to the finishing line. We're running for Katie, who was only 22 and had her whole life ahead of her when this illness got the better of her. Please help us to honour her memory, as she was loved and admired so much.Thank you for all your support and generosity and we look forward to seeing you along the route on 25th April 2010.Celia and Josie
P.S. we can make our target if 300 people give us £10 or more. Easy as that.
UPDATE: WE DID IT. Josie and I finished with a time of 6.31. It was a tough but thoroughly enjoyable day. Thanks to all of you that came and shouted our names and gave us jelly babies and lucozade. We would also like to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone that has sponsored us. Please don't stop now.
Anyway, you might find us back here again next year.
