Hello and welcome to the Centurion Row JustGiving page!
What's it all about?
12 members of the Guernsey Rowing Club are each undertaking a gruelling 100km indoor row to raise as much money as possible for the Guernsey MS Society and Guernsey Cheshire Home charities.
A Guernsey Rowing Club women’s team of rowers will also undertake the 100km row in relay.
Throughout the day supplementary 2km relay races will take place on the hour, every hour starting from 10.30am, with teams of four individuals each rowing 500metres to make up the 2km distance.
Competition in the relays will be fun and intense! There are even a couple of celebrity rowers being lined up, including the Bailiff Sir Geoffrey Rowland.
Did you know?
Each of the 12 rowers will burn approximately 900 – 1000 calories and consume one litre or more of fluids every hour.
They will have a support crew to keep them fed and hydrated with physios on hand to soothe any aching muscles.
If all 12 team members complete their rows successfully their combined row will amount to approximately 750 miles – nearly the equivalent of the straight-line distance between Guernsey and Copenhagen in Denmark.
Each rower will have rowed six miles short of the Guernsey to Weymouth distance or just over three times the Guernsey to Jersey distance.
Where and When?
The Centurion Charity Row takes place on December 4th in the rear concourse at Beau Sejour, starting at 9am. The event is due to finish by 6pm.
So please dig deep and donate now and come along on 4 December and show your support!
