Together we are planning to run the Cardiff half marathon. Hopefully it will only be half as bad as running a full marathon. (Incidentally, the rumour is that one of our members signed up thinking the challenge was to ‘eat a marathon’ – you should have heard the snickers at that one!)
But enough jokes! Why are we doing this? Well, there are three simple reasons…
1) We are passionate about supporting families at Care for the Family – big families, small families, ordinary and extraordinary families, families who are loving family life and those who are finding it tough right now, those celebrating the start of family life or new arrivals, and those grieving tragic loss.
2) Care for the Family directly supports over 100,000 families every year in the UK, but to provide this support Care for the Family has to find over £3 million every year. Half of the money we raise from our running efforts will go directly into Care for the Family funds. This means more families will continue to be supported through the events, resources, training and free support networks that Care for the Family offers.
3) Care for the Family also strives to be generous hearted - with our time, our resources, and our support. Just as we value the generosity of our supporters, we also want to be generous. So we've decided to give half of the money we raise to Tŷ Hafan, a children's hospice near out head office in Cardiff that is doing incredible things for families whose children have life-limiting conditions.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe and you won’t get unwanted emails. Once you donate, your money will go directly to the charity and they can also make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer - saving us time and money too.
So please dig deep and donate now - every little (and large!) gift will help.
When you donate, you’ll be asked if you want to share your details with Care for the Family. Please say ‘Yes’ so we can give you a proper thank you.
Thank you,
The Care for the Family running team
James
