Thank you very much for visiting our fundraising page. Your support is really appreciated.

Ben was a proud Royal Marine and just loved what he did. He would truly have approved of our JAUNT2GIB venture, in support of Jersey Hospice Care, established in Jersey in 1982 to provide an invaluable support to those suffering from Cancer and Motor Neurone diseases. As well as providing specialist palliative nursing care, they also offer counseling and support for their families. It is likely that all of us either directly or indirectly will call upon the services of our local Hospice at some time and as they receive no State funding, they rely entirely on private donations to survive. The JAUNT2GIB will take us about 9 weeks to complete and we aim to depart Jersey around about the 25th June. Hopefully we should arrive in Gibraltar towards the end of August or beginning of September. Obviously our progress will be very 'weather dependant'! Nick will be sailing his 5.5m Drascombe Lugger, Rozelle, an open sailing boat and James is acting as guard boat in a 6.5m RIB. The journey will take us along the coasts of France, Spain and Portugal and through the Straits of Gibraltar, in a series of day sails. It is anticipated that each sailing day will last between 8 to 12 hours. The total distance is approximately 2,000 miles and we believe will entail about 400 to 500 hours at sea. Madeleine and Jane, Nick and James' wives are acting as the mobile shore party, based in a motor home. They will make sure that all shore arrangements go smoothly and travel ahead to prepare for the next arrival ashore. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor JAUNT2GIB: Help for Heroes will get your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Thanks again and please keep in touch with our progress through our website www.challenge4ben.com
