The British Red Cross, a charity incorporated by Royal Charter 1908, helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives.

Story

***Success! I reached Land's End at 17.50pm on Saturday 26th.

Sadly, not everyone in the group was able to manage the whole distance, but I'm pleased to report I made it with just one blister! However, I can't yet walk properly without the aid of my trekking poles...

Thanks again to all those who have sponsored me, online or offline! If you haven't yet donated, what are you waiting for?***

I've been involved with the Red Cross ever since learning to do first aid all those years ago...

Having been on active duty and been at the sharp end of helping people in crisis (ranging from the minor cut finger to a full-blown heart attack) I know that the Red Cross in its various international guises provides an essential service to everyone in their time of need.

This summer I'd like to do something a bit different - and that's to join a group of friends to walk 130-odd miles (excluding wrong turnings) of the South West Coast Path. The eight days should takes us from Bude to Land's End, hopefully with glorious Cornish sunshine along the way. If you're interested, there's more info at http://www.longwalk.co.uk

I'm funding the costs of the walk myself, so all that you donate (minus 5% for the justgiving site) will go to the British Red Cross. I cannot guarantee that donations will go to specific appeals, but I'm sure they'll spend it wisely (i.e. not all on bandages).

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Red Cross will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
